Letter to the City

Posted by jillandkate

Dear Nashville,

You know I’m a fan. You know that I love you. But I think you are going through a bit of an identity crisis. It’s been clear over the last few days that you are wanting to be more like other cities. You’ve gotten mixed up in the likes of Detroit, or Boston weather…but let’s have a reality check. Your weather is supposed to be mild this time of year. None of this snowing for three days, everything icing over and having the high temp of the day be 23 degrees. What’s that all about? Tisk tisk.

So if you wouldn’t mind, could you try pulling yourself together and gather up the gusto to bring back the 50 degrees I’d prefer right now.

Please and thank you.

-kate

Very cute! I should proabably write the city of Orlando too! When I moved here from North Carolina, I didn’t move for the 33° weather with a possible chance of flurries!!! REALLY?!? SNOW?!? IN FLORIDA?!? Get out of town! <—I just might!

Hopefully you're staying warm :) Have fun in the studio, can't wait to hear new music ;)

mmhmm here in New Jersey, the high has been no more than 30 each day, but the wind chill makes it feel like 0. i’m not sure if i can deal with this for the next 2 months. spring….where are you????? :)

We’re on Day 19 or so of temps not even reaching 30 degrees here in Chicago.. It makes me so sad :( And with the snowstorm we had on Wednesday/Thursday it took me and hour & a half to drive 13 miles of my 35 mile commute. I took snowdays Thursday & Friday.

I know it’s not normal, but just be thankful you don’t have 30 inches of snow to go with the cold, like it is here in Central NY. I am SO ready for spring.

Cheer up girls, and tada……write a song about it ;)

i love this weather. i am a school teacher and this snow has given me a two day vacation (only in tennessee).

i just wanted to thank you for responding to my e mail. keragan was so excited when i told her you liked spongebob and patrick. also, i love the spork pic. honestly, that was just my sick humor. my students tell me i’m the most random person they know. i think they may be right.

as for the weather, it’s back to normal temps on monday. you know what that means for me….back to teaching high school students how to solve equations.

I used to love New England winters, then I went to school in North Carolina. Then I moved back to Boston and now I hate winter. Once you get a taste of a mild winter you can never go back…

Sorry Nashville seems to be suffering from an identity crisis. For your sake I hope it “finds” itself soon! Hot chocolate helps.

I live in Kansas City and we havent seen so much snow in like 10 years. It’s ridiculous. Our pipes are frozen so we have no running water in the kitchen. Our driveway is basically a plank of ice….wtf mother nature. I got shit to DO

I mean, you’ve gotta admit, snow in Nashville is kind of fun/funny for a couple days out of the year. It’s fun watching the people that aren’t used to it lose their $h*t and clear the grocery shelves of milk and bread for a mere 4 inches of snow.

Not to go against the whole point of your post haha, but I’m headed back home to Nashville and I’d actually like to see at least a weeee bit of snow. Do you mind waiting just ONE more day? No? Okay, nevermind then. : )

I know this is nothing to most of you, but when it is 39 degrees in miami, you know something’s up. where’s that argument about global warming now, huh? I, for one, will try to enjoy it because I’m sure we’ll be back to 90 degrees any day now. then we can complain about that ;)

Too funny. I have to fess up though. The cold and snowy weather that the southern state are currently having make me feel better because living in Michigan I have always kind of resented the fact that they have such mild winters while we all suffered up here.

Dear Kate, I feel your pain….ATL is no better at the moment. I can’t remember the last time we were above freezing. At least y’all have pretty snow to look at. We’ve had black ice, 27 car pile ups, hundreds of canceled flights, etc. Seriously, getting iced in? Sort of fun, but not when you’ve got lots to do. *sigh*

I could NOT agree more with this post. :) I’m in East Tn. and honestly sick of worrying about the road/hill leading to my house being iced over, and wondering if I will get home without a mental breakdown. I love winter..and snow..all before Christmas..now its just a hassle! I’ve got some friends in GA who are dealing with these INSANELY low temps..and they’re what?..say it with me kids..HATING IT! anyway..Stay warm girls! :)

That’s funny; cute :) I think I should write a letter like that now. Michigan weather is just so unpredictable it sucks. Last year we had snow in May. This year we had hardly any till after Christmas. Now the temps are dipping down to the single digits and we got 6 inches of snow in one night. Next week it may be back up to 50 degrees. I think it’s time for a move haha :)

I know this is a late comment, but I find it hilarious that my city is usually one of the coldest in North America during the winter (one day we were second only to Siberia in terms of coldness with -78F with windchill!), but when you blogged this, my city was at 44F while you guys were at 23F.

Crazy? I think so. What is happening to this world?
