New Song on October 17, 2010 “Don’t Feel A Thing”

Posted by jillandkate

DON’T FEEL A THING

I don’t feel a thing, no

I don’t feel a thing

All I hear is

My breathing out and my breathing in

Oooooh a broken heart

Has broken me

Oooooh a broken heart

Has broken me

It might set me free

Just might set me free

Right now I don’t feel

I don’t feel a thing

I don’t feel a thing

I don’t feel a thing, I

Used to feel everything

My body numb

The face is painted but the doll undone

Oooooh a broken heart

Has broken me

Oooooh a broken heart

Has broken me

It might set me free

Just might set me free

Right now I don’t feel

I don’t feel a thing

I don’t feel a thing

Do you feel a thing

Do you feel anything

Oooooh you’re breaking hearts

You’re breaking me

Oooooh you’re breaking hearts

You’re breaking me

Oooooh a broken heart

Has broken me

Oooooh a broken heart

Has broken me

It might set me free

Hmm. On the surface this song is sad, but it actually kind of makes me hopeful? Does that make sense? It makes sense in my head.

Like, you’re numb, but you can also kind of see a light ahead somewhere – like the entire “it might set me free” line… and just the brightness of the song in general. The actual sound of the guitar is sort of bright sounding for such a somber topic – not so muddy, you know? I swear this is all making sense in my head. Hahaha!

Anyway, pretty song! It’s sort of a new sound from you two, at least from a fan perspective. I enjoyed it! I could totally picture this playing on Grey’s Anatomy or something. Get to it ladies! ;)

Oh, and I feel like you two always end up posting a song that is relevant to my life at the most crucial points in time. Not that I have a broken heart at this moment, but somebody close to me does… so I’m gonna make her listen to this. Hopefully she pulls away the brightness that I pulled from it, but maybe I’m just eternally optimistic, and this could just make her spiral into a deeper depression. Haha. I hope that is not the case.

I ramble. Anyway, I vote yes to the live chats! Just saying.

Wow I really really liked this! I usually always like your SOT17ths but this one might be a new favorite :) Really reminded me of Katie Herzig. I can definitely relate to being in that place and that sure is a scary place to be in. Thank you for sharing, loved it!!

I can’t believe how much I love this! It reminds me a liiittle of some of the tracks off Kelly’s ‘My December’ (which is a GREAT thing, btw). You both sounded amazing and it’s an amazing song. Fortunately, I’m not going through any numbness right now, but at least I have something to listen to next time I do :)

That song grabbed me at the first few chords, and carried me on it’s journey, loving every note to the bitter end. I hate that it’s so filled with sadness in it’s lyrics, because that song rocks ladies!! Cheers to J&K!

I read the lyrics first and was a bit leery of another heartbreak song, but the music here is very catchy — and not in a regular pop way — just in a way that makes the song stand out and makes it memorable, which I am pretty sure is what you want. ??? Maybe a bit of Aben (or somebody else?) rubbing off on you guys? If so, good. I’m sure you guys rub off on other artists, too. I think it’s how it’s supposed to work.

Once I played the video, however, and the music started, the lyrics sort of came to life more and seemed to take on a more profound meaning. I also began to appreciate the simplicity of the lyrics and realized that simplicity is what was needed here. So as much as I hate to admit this (if I ever did anything artistic, it would be writing for sure since I have no other talents), I am beginning to think music (and melody) is really the key to a hit song, or at least a memorable song — like way WAY more than the lyrics. And if you have really good music, it seems the only thing lyrics can do is ruin it if you make really egregious errors according to some mysterious “laws of lyric writing.” It’s not the first time I’ve gotten this impression, and it might be something everybody already knows, but thanks for letting me ramble anyway. Okay. :)

PS — The closest I think you guys came recently to something almost pure pop-sounding was in the car on a road trip a few months ago. Don’t remember the lyrics so much (as usual), but I remember the music being very catchy, up-beat, and pop. I think I have an ear for pop. Not sure. Or maybe just 80′s pop. LOL

wow. I think that’s you’re best song, EVER. But maybe that’s telling. I know exactly what sensation you’re speaking of. Where you’re just sortof taking the hits, swallowing them and Numb. Great song, such beautiful voices and women ! :’)

Thank you both so much for sharing, once again.

Jill & Kate’s music is so beautiful – I downloaded ‘Atube catcher’ to get this from youtube and convert it into windows audio, and then just used the Windows Movie Maker to cut the music out, and burnt it on an audio CD. Now I can’t stop listening to it in my (new!) car, and already hardmailed a CD to my family with this on, and have it on my MP3 player for gym! The moment the EP comes out, I’ll buy it too, so I can pay for it. If you had a ‘donate’ button on u’r facebook page I’d pay for it there too. Thank you for making my day brighter today. You guys need to take the steps to push your music into the charts where it belongs! All your friends are behind you

The sound of this is different from most of your stuff but that is definitely not a negative! It’s different but so fabulous!
So much emotion! I wish everyone knew about you ladies! But it’s also kind of awesome to get to be the one to introduce your stuff to people :)

You’ve converted my best friend to a hardcore J&K fan with this one. I always post the Sot17th’s on my Fb & tag her in it. These lyrics are now her Fb status and she told me she’s listened to it on repeat for the last two days!

I blared your albums on my deck in the summer while I would write or bask in the sun which lead to my step-mom and my neighbours asking about you. Three more converts ;)
All my friends know and love your music now. I’d talk about y’all and they’d be like… “Jill and who now?” Now they don’t have to ask! We all love ya!

Keep up the good stuff, ladies; you deserve recognition for your music, regardless of the level of mainstream “success” you achieve. I get that a big-time, publicized career may not be what you want, so whatever is gonna make you happy :) Whatever you classify as your success, I hope you reach it and get your credit where credit is due!
