Better Together Tour
We are super excited to be able to share with you this awesome tour our good friend Todd is doing. You might be familiar with Todd because he is the one that does all of our pics & has been a friend of ours since college. He is one of the best people we know & we always know that anything he puts his time into is going to be great. It’s called The Better Together Tour. Basically for the last few weeks, and several more to come, they are traveling around in a super freaking cute RV (named Ernie) capturing in photos and videos the amazing work people are doing around the country. Normal people just doing something to help better their communities and the people around them. For instance, they met and filmed an organization based in Salt Lake City that builds wheelchair ramps for families who can’t afford them. They go around all over the state building these ramps free of charge! You can watch a video the BTT (better together tour…see what we did there?) did about this awesome organization by clicking HERE.
So here’s the super fun part…they made these awesome t-shirts to help support their cause…how cute are they?
Pretty darn cute.
Oh that’s right…here is your very own j&k sporting our very own BTT shirts….LOVE THESE!
And they want to give YOU one for free. If you like our post on FB about this and then go like their FB page before Sunday (11/11/12) you will automatically be entered. They will pick 2 random winners and if you’re one of the lucky 2 you can get a free awesome t-shirt! Or you can buy one too…all the proceeds go to helping fund their tour.
So, here’s the breakdown to enter:
Step 1. Go to our FB page and like our post “Better Together Tour”.
Step 2. Go like the Better Together Tour FB page before Sunday (11/11/12)
Step 3. Done.
So, isn’t that awesome? Yes, yes it is. You can also bookmark their website www.bettertogethertour.com & their Facebook page www.facebook.com/BetterTogetherTour & last but not least…their twitter www.twitter.com/theBTtour oh shoot we lied…you DEFINITELY want to follow them on Instagram too cause they have some insanely cool photos they share : www.instagram.com/bettertogethertour
Spread the word folks…you can be a part of their awesome journey. We love that they are highlighting people doing uncommon good in our communities all around the country. It should encourage us all to help, love, support people….because after all…we are all in this together….Be Better Together.
Much love-

EXCLUSIVE: Interview with JillandKate
If you’ve ever attended a Kelly Clarkson concert, there’s a good chance you’ve already been introduced to Nashville-based pop/acoustic/a-little-bit-country/folk duo, JillandKate. Since 2007, the pair of Jill Pickering and Kate Rapier have lent their voices to Clarkson’s live shows as background vocalists. However, these two extend way beyond the background and have already released one EP and 3 full length albums, including September’s Heart of Stone.
JillandKate took some time out of their busy schedule to chat with Keepin’ It Country about the Wreckers, embarrassing on-stage moments, boys in skinny jeans and some of their favorite things. Read on for more!

jillandkate’s things to discuss.
Alrighty then….let’s have a jillandkate town hall meeting of sorts.
It’s December 4th, 2011.
Is everyone present?
Present.
1. Word on the….?
We didn’t do a WOT3rd yesterday. Even though it was December 3rd…we didn’t do one. No, we didn’t just forget…that’s a lie we totally forgot. But since we are doing 31 days of blogging, we figured we’ll just skip this month and pick it up next month. Or maybe we’ll do a sporatic Word on the __ this month…just for funsies. Stay tuned to our Facebook page for details…if we do it.
2. Missing YouTube Videos
You win some, you lose some. Welp, we lost some.
So we realize that all of our YouTube videos from the past few years disappeared a month or so ago. We have been trying to fix the problem, but unfortunately, have been unable to do so.
This is a huge loss for us as you know because we love posting new songs every month as well as just random videos. We have a few of them backed up, but unfortunately, many of them are gone. Gone, just like J.T. says.
We are so sorry about this and really freaking bummed. If any of you somehow have any of the videos that were lost, please let us know in the comments on this post. We are going to try to round up as many as possible and post them and make it better than ever. How’s that for positivity?
3. NEW ALBUM:
With only 27 days left in 2011 we are anxious to get this new music out to you guys! We will be recording a lot during this month but due to the crazy schedule of the past few months we are going to have to bump back the release of the album JUST a little bit.
When we started this project, we had reason to believe we could finish the recording process and have the album out by December of this year…but due to CRAZY schedule changes we have to push it back a bit to ensure our best work! The timing has gotten a little tricky because the studio that we are working at is in Nashville and since we have been traveling way more than we had anticipated, our studio days have been limited. However we have already been in the studio and the project is seriously underway thanks to YOU and your support…so THANK YOU.
We are planning to have it finished and ready for your listening ears in early 2012. Thank you for understanding and being the awesomest. (Is that a word? It is now.)
Okay…jillandkate’s first town hall meeting can officially come to a close. Questions, comments, issues? Feel free. This is a safe place
27 blogs coming your way.
Do something awesome today.
Love yo-self.

A View
One of the things that I (kate) love about this life that I lead is that I get to travel…no, I’m not crazy about long security lines and swollen ankles after long flights but the fact that you can wake up in the morning and be in one place and hours later arrive in another place is amazing. Or on tour you go to sleep in one city on the bus and open the door and step off the bus in another city. It blows my mind. And makes me ridiculously happy every time. Travel brings loved ones together. Travel brings adventure. Travel means learning. Travel has a way of making you appreciate your home & what you have.
One of my favorite things to do is look out the window and listen to music. Seriously…I can look out of a plane or car window for many an hour and be perfectly content. I love seeing the vastness of this world. I love seeing the clouds and seeing the sun shining through them. I am somewhat secretly obsessed with the sky and the stars and planes. Sidenote….I could sit and look at the stars for endless hours. I guess it’s just that I love that planes get you closer to the stars. Flying at night is also super cool cause people always look down at the lights below…which is great but I love to look up and see the stars…surrounded by sky that is almost black and then there are these bright shining stars above you. Seriously. OK…nerd alert. I’m done.
The first couple shows of this run we had to fly…so I was listening to Bon Iver’s latest record & took these pics:
Best part was that all these flights lead me to this spot:

Lucky girl I am.

Chicago & The Fray & Cookies.
We are in Chicago tonight which means Kate gets to see her family…and her mom baked cookies for the band and crew. WIN WIN!!!
Notice how there has been a food theme so far? We’ll try to not blog about that every day. Haha!
Favorite thing about tonight’s show in Chicago:
Jill: I got to wear my red mesh converse. I love them!
Kate: I got to see my fam! Seeing people pump their fists to “Stronger.” Love it!!
Also, we’ve always been fans of The Fray, but after seeing them live two nights in a row, the deal is sealed!! All super nice guys as well.
Rockin it on the bus now. See ya tomorrow!
