Come hang with us…and see our awesome friend Reva Williams play too!
I am exhausted. Like…wowza…tired. I spent the week in Chicago hanging with my little brothers and dad while my mom visited my sister overseas. And let me tell you–I am NOT a mother, I do not have my own children but man, I LOVE my little brothers. They are 10 and so funny but man…they are sometimes a handful…and I am exhausted! I played pseudo mom–I made lunches, did carpool, was “cool big sister” at times and grouchy “evil big sister” at others…and bottom line is I am WIPED OUT.
So this is my official ROUND OF APPLAUSE to any and every mother, father, aunt, uncle, friend, sibling, grandparent or godparent that has ever raised a child or children.
Sit down and have a glass of wine on me.
I’m applauding you from my couch.
Below is a picture of me and my two brothers after they WON their football game!!! Woooohoo!!!! Yes, I made a homemade “TEAM RAPIER” shirt for my dad and me…how freakin’ handsome are my brothers? Sheesh. I love them….a lot.
Hugs & a wee bit of exhaustion

So I started this blog at home yesterday and didn’t get to finish it there…so I finished it today
Well, today is a good day. We have the day off, but not in any old town…in Nashville..a.k.a….HOME! Nashville is seriously the best place on earth. That means doing laundry in my own house, repacking my suitcase…which means…taking out all of the clothes I thought I’d wear but haven’t because why fool anyone…on tour my wardrobe consists of comfy pants and comfy pants and more comfy pants. And a sweathshirt and some Ugg boots. That’s all I need on tour. So I’m repacking.
I haven’t gotten a chance to really say thank you to everyone who came out to the show in Boston. It meant so much to have people come out and share that night with us…people who came from near and far…your support means the world to us. It’s a crazy feeling to be on stage and see people singing along–before they are songs, they are thoughts & feelings running through our heads and so to see people relating and singing along is the COOLEST thing ever.
I’ve been loving fall lately. Officially…Spring is my favorite season…but I may be cheating with Fall a bit. It’s been great.
I’ve been listening to Brandi Carlile’s song “Before It Breaks” on repeat.
The guys from Parachute are super cool and lots of fun to travel with…as are the Eric Hutchinson crew…but we already knew that.

So this last weekend we were heading to Canada to perform at the Much Music Awards. I had spent a few of my days off with my family so I was flying from Chicago all by lonesome. I get to the airport, nice and early…two hours before my flight…check in….go sit at my gate..all the routine nonsense. My flight was supposed to take off at 3:45. So at around 3:00pm they announce that the flight had been cancelled. Awesome. So I call the airlines and they book me on a 7:25pm flight on a different airline. So I park my butt at a Chilis with my book (currently reading “My Sisters Keeper”) and chow down on some chips and salsa. I figure that’s a good way to kill 4 hours. Well, then at around 5:00pm my 7:25pm flight gets pushed back to 9:25pm. Then, not twenty minutes later that flight gets cancelled. At this point I’ve got laughter that cannot be controlled. I am so amused. So I call the airline again and they book me on a flight that leaves at 9:25pm. An hour later it gets pushed to 11:40pm. And I was like…WOW. That’s some time to kill. Then it gets pushed back to 12:40am…and I’m thinking…geez oh peet this is gonna be the LONGEST day ever. So I’m still chillin’ at the airport when at 10:00pm they cancel my third and final flight of the evening. I can’t get my bag back that evening and they rebook me on an 11:20am the next day. So I hop in a cab and go crash at my cousins house…I was really happy that she only lives ten minutes away. The next morning my flight actually doesn’t get cancelled..WOOHOO…and I arrive in Toronto But sans my bag. They have NO idea where it is but promise me that it’s probably on the next flight in. Fast forward 6 days later and my bag arrives back in Nashville at my house.
Yup, my bag is gone for 6 days. Pretty awesome.
That’s my story.
Canada was amazing. Crowd was rockin’. The Jonas Brothers were precious as pie. Good to see some of you out there!!
So this past Wednesday, March 18th, we were in Chicago and decided to celebrate Jill’s birthday with some bowling & impromptu karaoke. It was a grand occasion…we saw fine forms of bowling and…what birthday is complete without pink Hannah Montana cupcakes???
Yet, I (kate) had an interesting thing happen on this festive evening. The injury happened right in between these two pictures….take a look at the “before” and “after” pictures.
Someone (not naming names…) thought it would be funny to smash a cupcake in my face…yet along with the cupcake in my face went the candle and plastic Hannah Montana star RIGHT in my eye.
This, however could not stop the amazingness of the evening…so we partied on and sang our hearts out at a dive karaoke bar. But, the next day I did see a Dr. and he told me I had a hemorrhage in my eye. Stupid cupcakes…and I even picked them out. Good times.
These are two producers we are working with in Chicago.
Ben Kesler (www.soulthink.com) & Will Gray (www.willgraymusic.com or www.sendmoretwizzlers.tumblr.com). These are great guys and we have a TON of fun with them. Check out their websites! But we know, ladies, what you are thinking. Don’t get too excited with how cute these guys are…they are both married. And even worse, they are married to very cool–extremely nice–beautiful women
